COLLEGE STATION – According to the Real Estate Center’s latest Home Price Indexes (HPIs), home price appreciation is slowing in many Texas metros.

HPI levels in Dallas-Fort Worth reveal continued slowdown in overall single-family home price appreciation.

"Homes sold in the lower 33rd percentile of prices appeared to hold steady in 2018, while homes in higher-priced brackets experienced diminishing appreciation," said Center Senior Data Analyst Joshua Roberson.

Austin shared similar trends in both overall and price tier growth.

Overall price growth in San Antonio had only a slight decline in growth rate year over year while El Paso capped 2018 with its second consecutive year of positive growth.

Data for several Texas metros are publically available for free on the Center’s website. Stay tuned for the Houston Home Price Index set to be released February 10th.
